In this session, educators will explore computer science concepts and skills by creating hands-on personally relevant, tangible, and shareable projects that they can use with their students. Participants will spend time designing algorithms, following computational thinking practices, coding sensors and actuators as well as uploading programs to microcontrollers that perform authentic tasks. Additionally, educators will work toward answering the following essential questions, how do you express yourself and your creativity through computer science, how can algorithmic thinking skills be used across multiple disciplines and how can computer programs solve problems? (Presenter(s): Stephanie Racine, STEM Educator, Ponaganset Middle School, and Suzanne Snow, Project Lead the Way)
