In this session participants will learn to fly drones. Students from the "Girls in STEAM" pilot will teach educators what they learned about flying, safety, growth mindset, and the importance of engaging non-traditional students in the fields of aviation and engineering. Erin Knoetig, photography and drone teacher will be on hand to answer questions and share expertise. Dr. Amanda Bastoni, CTE Director at the Nashua Technology Center North campus will share a brief history of the project and explain how the class got off the ground. Handouts will be available with resources, suggestions, ideas, and important steps for those interested in bringing a similar program back to their school. This presentation will be hands-on and participants will be encouraged to share what they know as well, so that we can all learn from one another. This presentation will be the hands-on portion of the concurrent 1-hour "Girls in STEAM: Drones and Art" workshop offered earlier. (Presenter(s): Amanda Bastoni, CTE Director, Nashua Technology Center North, and Erin Knoetig, Nashua School District)
